In her past career she held the position of President at Schlumberger Canada Ltd., Executive Vice President-International at CNOOC Petroleum North America ULC, Vice President-Oil Sands at Husky Energy, Inc. and Vice President-Oil Sands at Husky Oil Operations Ltd.

Ms. Hughes received an undergraduate degree from Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon.
