Burnele Venable Powell

Burnele Venable Powell is a Director of the Consumers Union of United States, Inc., the American Lung Association of Arkansas, ReStart and the DeLasalle Academy.
He has been Dean and Professor of Law for the University of Missouri since July 1, 1995.
Prior to University of Missouri, Mr. Powell was Professor of Law, Legal Ethics and Administrative Law for the University of North Carolina.
Previously, he was an Associate Regional Counsel of the Department of Housing & Urban Development.
He is Visiting Professor of Law for the University of Oregon and Washington University.
He is a Member of the Wisconsin Bar, Massachusetts State Bar, the National Bar Association, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, the Kansas City Lawyers Association, the Kansas Bar Association, the American Law Institute and an At-Large Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
Currently, Mr. Powell is Chairman of the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility Coordinating Council and Membership on the ABA Multidisciplinary Practice Commission.
He is a Trustee of the Midwest Bioethics Center.
Previously, he was Chairman of the Missouri Bar Association Special Commission on Forum Nonconvenience from 1998 to 1999, a Director of Consumers Union from 1993 to 1996 and the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam Drafting Committee from 1993 to 1995.
Mr. Powell received an LLM degree from Harvard University in 1979, a JD from the University of Wisconsin in 1973 and BA degree from the University of Missouri in 1970.
