Dave Burke

David Colin Burke is the founder of Makena Capital Management LLC and Makena Capital Management LLC (Private Equity), both founded in 2005.
He held the title of CEO at Makena Capital Management LLC (Private Equity) from 2005 to 2020 and Managing Director at Makena Capital Management LLC from 2019 to 2020.
Currently, he is the CEO of Selby Lane Capital LLC and holds director positions at Makena Real Estate Fund II Cayman LP, Makena Strategic Opportunities Fund Kh Cayman LP, Makena Strategic Opportunities Fund - KH LP, and Makena Venture Capital Master Fund B LP.
He is also a Special Advisor for Global Experiences at Stanford University since 2018, a Board of Trustees & Investment Committee member at Carnegie Endowment for International Peace since 2015, a Venture Partner at Resolute.vc LLC since 2023, a Member of the Board of Advisors at African Leadership Academy since 2018, and a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustee at the University of Virginia School of Law since 2012.
His former positions include Managing Director at Stanford Management Co. (Private Equity) from 2004 to 2006, Managing Director at The Investment Fund for Foundations from 2001 to 2004, Director at Mcm Investment Partners LP, Investment Advisor at Tiff Advisory Services LLC, and Associate at Linklaters LLP from 1996 to 2000.
Mr. Burke received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Virginia and his graduate degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1993.
