AM's M&A department is an investment manager specialized in investment banking. The firm focuses on revitalization projects and leverages the group's real estate expertise. The firm invests in Japanese and Asian companies through corporate turnaround funds, venture capital funds and other M&A-related funds which are set-up and sponsored by the AM group. They have a medium- to long-term investment horizon and aim for potential synergies between their portfolio companies and the group's other businesses, for example targeting construction companies or large hotels. The firm promotes the recovery and growth of their investees through a variety of strategies, including management consulting support, introduction of key personnel, trademark leasing and asset securitization. In order to improve the financial soundness of distressed companies, AM arranges the monetization of the property assets they hold, in particular office buildings and retail stores. Their exit strategies include IPOs or sales in the open market.
