Jerry W.
Powell is currently the Chairman of the Alabama Law Alumni Society at The University of Alabama and the Chairman of the Farrah Law Society.
He is also a Director at the Alabama Bankers Association, Inc., a Director at the AIDS Task Force of Alabama, Inc., and a Member of the American Bar Association and the Alabama State Bar Association.
Additionally, he serves as the Secretary, Executive VP & General Counsel at Cadence Bancorp LLC since 2011.
Mr. Powell's former positions include being the Founding Director of Magic Moments, Secretary & General Counsel at Compass Bancshares, Inc. (Alabama) from 1981 to 2011, General Counsel at Jones Walker LLP, Secretary, Executive VP & General Counsel at Cadence Bank, NA (Atlanta, Georgia), Cadence Financial Corp., and Superior Bank, NA (Tampa, Florida), and General Counsel at BBVA USA. He also served as the Secretary, Executive VP & General Counsel at Cadence Bancorporation from 2011 to 2021.
Mr. Powell completed his undergraduate studies at Birmingham-Southern College and obtained his graduate degree from The University of Alabama School of Law.
