Meisenbach Capital Management (MCM) is a US long/short equity manager. The firm invests primarily in the stocks of US large- and mid-cap companies that have the potential for significant price changes due to earnings announcements and business events, such as new products, management changes and technology changes. The firm takes short positions in names with high relative valuations in which fundamentals appear to be deteriorating and is only interested in those stocks which could halve in a day. Long positions are taken in names with low relative valuations in which fundamentals appear to be improving. The firm is only interested in those companies that exhibit the potential to double or triple. They typically maintain a position until the company's stock movement correlates with the market. MCM often shorts stocks that they have previously been long (and vice versa). The firm holds very small positions and may take slightly more concentrated positions in a very few names. Management may hedge positions with investments in a company or index in the same, or similar, group or index. Large positions that begin to lose money are quickly reduced or closed, and overall portfolio size is reduced when the program incurs losses.
