Robert Lefkowitz

Robert Joseph Lefkowitz is the founder of Xsira Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (founded in 1999), Trevena, Inc. (founded in 2007), and Septerna, Inc. (founded in 2019).
He currently holds positions as the Director at The Burroughs Wellcome Fund (since 2019), a Member of the National Academy of Sciences, and a Professor at Duke University Medical Center (since 2013).
Previously, he served as an Independent Director at Lexicon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (from 2001 to 2024), an Investigator at the American Heart Association, Inc. (in 1976), and held leadership roles at the Association of American Physicians and the American Society for Clinical Investigation.
He completed his undergraduate degree at The Trustees of Columbia University in The City of New York in 1962 and obtained his doctorate from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in 1966.
