The Chemical Educational Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring K-8 students in STEM through hands-on science education and competitions. The non-profit company is based in Arlington, VA. Its flagship program, the You Be the Solution Challenge™, is a team-based STEM competition for 5th to 8th graders, where students answer timed science questions and create videos proposing solutions to sustainability and community issues. The challenge develops critical thinking, communication, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving skills, and offers recognition and scholarships supported by industry partners. The foundation provides resources for educators and parents, including study materials, instructional guides, and support for team coordinators. It also offers Adventure Guides™, a collection of over 50 free, hands-on science activity roadmaps using common materials, aligned with Next Generation Science Standards and available in multiple languages for various learning settings. Additionally, the foundation runs Essential Elements™ professional development workshops to equip educators with methods to teach hands-on STEM effectively. The organization connects businesses, educators, and volunteers to build a STEM-ready workforce and encourages donations, sponsorships, and volunteering to support its mission.
