Asterian is a short- to long-term, active manager which invests in small and medium-sized Belgian companies with an international dimension in a range of industry sectors except real estate. For their core investments, the firm takes majority and substantial minority stakes in medium-sized growth companies in industrial sectors, aiming to finance internal and external growth without time constraints to exit. For buy-outs, Asterian takes majority stakes in established small and medium-sized companies across sectors (except real estate), acting as sole investor or co-investing with other financial partners and seeking to exit within five years. The firm partners with their investee companies, providing them with a range of support including helping to develop their strategy, defining and monitoring their financial and strategic objectives, selecting the management team, acting as a soundboard for management without interfering in their daily management and providing access to their network of industrial and financial contacts. The board of directors makes the firm's strategic decisions on investments and divestments, with management having veto power.
