Wintrust traces its origin to 1931 when Wayne Hummer, George Barnes and Harry Baum formed a financial services firm that provided investment advice to small and medium-sized banks. In 1981, after serving investors for 50 years, Wayne Hummer Management Co. was formed to provide discretionary, fee-based, investment management services. In 2002, Wayne Hummer Management Co. merged with Wintrust Financial Corp. (NasdaqGS: WTFC), a Chicago-based a financial services holding company and the firm became known as Wintrust Capital Management. Wintrust Capital Management consists of 3 divisions: Wayne Hummer Investments, the Chicago Trust Co. and Wayne Hummer Asset Management Co.
