Public Investment Corp. (SOC) Ltd. (PIC) is the wholly-owned pension fund management subsidiary of the Government of South Africa, with the Minister of Finance as a shareholder representative. It was founded in 1911 as the Public Debt Commissioners and became the Public Investment Corp. in 2004. Headquartered in Pretoria, the firm focuses exclusively on the public sector, investing funds on behalf of their clients, public sector entities such as pension, provident, social security or guardian funds. PIC supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and considers environmental, social and governance issues in all its investments.

STANLIB Asset Management Ltd. (SAM) is the multi-specialist investment subsidiary of STANLIB Ltd., ultimately held by Standard Bank Group Ltd. (JSE: SBK; ADR: SGBLY) in South Africa. The firm was created in 2002 by the merger of Liberty Asset Management and Standard Corporate and Merchant Bank Asset Management. In 2007 the Liberty Life Group acquired 100% of the ordinary shares of STANLIB Ltd.
