Alan Brazil

Dr. Alan Brazil is a Chief Executive Officer at SOM Macro Strategies LLC and a Treasurer & Director at Grand Street Settlement, Inc. He is on the Board of Directors at Grand Street Settlement, Inc. Prior to founding SOM Macro Strategies, Dr. Brazil was trained as an economist, first working for the Federal Reserve, then spent 30 years on wall street working as a trader, researcher and strategist.
In 2007, he started a cross asset strategy group at Goldman that offered both internal and external investors a perspective on macro themes.
He worked as a Head of Cross Asset/Hedge Fund Strategies from 2007-2016, Head of Mortgage Strategies from 2001-2007 & Managing Director & Head of Mortgage Research from 1994-2001 at Goldman Sachs.
He was the Head of Mortgage Product Management at Lehman Brothers from 1991-1994, Headed Treasury & Mortgage Option Desk at First Boston from 1990-1991 and headed Mortgage Option Desk & GNMA Trader at Citibank from 1987-1990, He received his PhD in Economics from University of Chicago in 1986.
