Amer Sheikh

Amer joined Sky’s Startup Investments and Partnerships team in 2021 and is responsible for identifying, assessing and completing investment and partnership opportunities with cutting edge technology startups.
Prior to joining Sky, Amer spent the past nine years at Centrica where he held several roles in energy trading, strategy and corporate development across the EMEA region.
Most recently Amer was instrumental in setting up Centrica’s CVC fund, Centrica Ventures in 2017.
As a core member of the investment team, Amer has acquired a wealth of experience working with early stage startups.
He was responsible for growing and managing the investment portfolio, he held several board director positions and contributed directly to revenue creation for the portfolio through partnerships with Centrica.
In 2019, Amer relocated to San Francisco to establish the funds activities and presence in North America.
Amer holds a PhD in experimental condensed matter physics.
He’s passionate about science, technology and sustainability.
Outside of work Amer is an avid squash player, loves live music and enjoys traveling to places near and far.
