Cheikh Kane

Dr. Kane is a senior economist at The Rohatyn Group (TRG), an asset management firm focused exclusively on investing in the global emerging markets.
Founded by Nicolas Rohatyn in 2002, TRG has offices in New York, Buenos Aires, Singapore and Hong Kong, and manages more than $1.9 billion in client assets.
Prior to his role at TRG, Dr. Kane was at the Gates Foundation, where he worked in the policy and finance group.
His experience also includes capital markets work for JP Morgan, where he held positions in London and New York, as well as more than seven years as a senior economist at the World Bank.
In his role at the World Bank, he provided technical assistance to Brazil, Peru and Venezuela, among other countries, and was the author of several reports that addressed structural economic changes needed within specific sectors.
Dr. Kane received a PhD in economics from Georgetown University in 1990 and a Maitrise in economics from the University of Dakar in 1985.
