Dr. James Kourlas is Head of Research at MKP Capital Management LLC.
Prior to joining MKP Capital in 1998, Dr. Kourlas was a member of the Mortgage Research Group at Salomon Smith Barney, where for three years he worked on interest rate/yield curve modeling, prepayment modeling, and MBS/ABS pricing and hedging.
Previously, he was a member of the Quantitative Research Group at Prudential Securities.
In this role, he was responsible for yield curve analytics, MBS/ABS pricing, and loan level studies of credit sensitive collateral.
Dr. Kourlas received his Ph.D.
in theoretical atomic physics from the City College of the City University of New York in 1980 where he had previously received his B.S.
in Mathematics.
