Nelson Oliveira

Nelson Oliveira is the Deputy General Counsel of Darby, where he focuses primarily on the mezzanine finance business of the firm.
Mr. Oliveira formerly served as Counsel with Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering, where he practiced in the Infrastructure Finance and Investment Funds groups.
Previously, he was Senior Commercial Counsel at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC).
At OPIC, Mr. Oliveira represented the agency in connection with international project finance transactions, political risk insurance and claims, and loans to venture funds.
He also played a leading role in developing OPIC's novel inconvertibility and non-transferability insurance for rated bond market transactions.
Prior to joining OPIC, Mr. Oliveira was with the firms of Debevoise & Plimpton and Coudert Brothers in New York, where he handled a variety of corporate finance matters and provided general corporate services on behalf of buyout funds and financial institutions.
Mr. Oliveira received a BA from Bowdoin College in 1984 and earned his JD, cum laude, from Boston College in 1990.
Mr. Oliveira speaks Portuguese and understands Spanish.
