The firm's roots date to 1831 when the Scottish Equitable Life Assurance Society was established. In 1994, Scottish Equitable sold a significant minority stake to Aegon NV, becoming a wholly-owned subsidiary in 1998. In 2001, the firm was re-branded as AEGON Asset Management and changed their name to Kames Capital in 2011. They became Aegon Asset Management UK PLC in 2020. S.A.C. Global Investors LLP (S.A.C. GI) is the alternative investment management subsidiary of S.A.C. Global Ltd. in Great Britain. Formerly known as Walter Capital Management LLP, the firm was founded by Richard Walter in 2000. S.A.C. bought a stake in the business in 2004 and renamed it S.A.C. Global Investors LLP in 2008. Based in London, the firm is affiliated with Stephen Cohen's US-based multistrategy hedge fund firm S.A.C. Capital Advisors LP.
