Lawrence A. Johansen

Mr. Lawrence A.
Johansen is Director of Investments at New Hampshire Retirement System.
He develops and implements the Retirement System’s overall investment planning and strategy, research, risk management.
Mr. Johansen oversees portfolio management, conducted either by staff or external managers, investment consultants and service provider relations.
He recommends to the Investment Committee and Board of Trustees short and long-term strategies and approaches for internally and externally managed investment programs.
Prior to joining New Hampshire Retirement System in January 2010, Mr. Johansen served various positions at the New York State Teachers’ Retirement System Retirement System as Managing Director-External Asset Management, Corporate Governance & Private Equity and as Securities Investment Officer.
where he oversees the Retirement System’s securities investment portfolio, which includes domestic and international equities, domestic fixed income, short-term and alternative investments.
He received his BS degree in Mathematics and Economics from The State University of New York.
