GS1 Hong Kong Ltd. was founded in 1989 by the general chamber of commerce. The non-profit company is based in Hong Kong, Hong Kong, and is one of 116 national chapters serving 150 economies worldwide. GS1 Hong Kong aims to empower industry's digital transformation by enabling businesses to improve efficiency, safety, authenticity, and sustainability through platforms, solutions, and services based on their standards. It is the local chapter of GS1®, a not-for-profit organization that develops standards-based solutions to address the challenges of data exchange. GS1 is the only officially licensed organization with the authority to issue GS1 barcodes (489 barcodes) locally. The Chinese company's system of standards helps companies identify, capture, and share supply chain data, ensuring important information is accessible, accurate, and easy to understand.
