Borregaard Industries Ltd. supplies wood based chemicals and also holds positions within ingredients, fine chemicals and energy. It supplies specialty cellulose, used for further chemical processing by the customers. Borregaard has been producing ethanol by fermentation of wood sugars and is transforming more than 90% of their biomass feedstock to marketable chemicals, the final 10% of the biomass used for internal energy production. The company was founded in 1889 and is headquartered in Sarpsborg, Norway.
