Previously, he worked with many Japanese governmental organizations on accelerating Japan’s financial and corporate restructuring process.
Mr. Gitlin designed, recommended, and helped to implement the Japan Corporate Recovery Fund, managed by the Development Bank of Japan and funded with 200 billion yen.
Mr. Gitlin served as Senior Strategic Advisor to Nomura Group, a leading Japanese securities company group in Japan, to assist Nomura in implementing restructuring strategies for Japanese companies.
Mr. Gitlin advised the U.S.
State, the Treasury Departments and the IMF, Canada, Korea, Indonesia and Mexico regarding corporate and/or sovereign restructuring reform.
Previously, Mr. Gitlin was a founder, builder and served as either President or Chairman of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the American College of Bankruptcy and INSOL International, organizations devoted to improving insolvency systems.
In 2002, Mr. Gitlin was named as one of the Top 100 Kingmakers, Deal Breakers and Power Brokers by the financial industry journal CFO.
Mr. Gitlin was chosen by The American Lawyer (April 2002) as a Dealmaker of the Year for 2001.
Mr. Gitlin received his JD in 1967 from the University of Connecticut School of Law and his BA in 1964 from the University of Connecticut.
