RheaVita BVBA has developed a unique freeze-drying technology that integrates all the traditional freeze-drying process steps into one continuous production line. The company is based in Zwijnaarde, Belgium and was founded in 2018 by Jos Corver and Thomas de Beer, with Thomas de Beer serving as the CEO since then. The technology involves spinning glass vials during the freezing process, resulting in a thin layer of product coating the inner lining of the vial. This approach offers several advantages over traditional freeze-drying methods, including faster product and process development, reduced cycle times, lower production costs, and improved product quality and process uniformity. The Belgian company also developed a digital twin of the system to facilitate future process development and optimization, maintenance and repair, and operator training.
