Before joining 3i, he worked at the Fraunhofer Institute, where he focused on Research & Development and software for production technology.
Furthermore, he has an entrepreneurial family background.
Joern Pelzer holds a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin (Diplom-Ingenieur) and a Master's degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics (LSE).

Mr. Pelzer was General Manager at Hyatt Hotels Corp.
from 1983 to 1996, Vice President of Hotel Operations for Riviera Hotel and Casino from 1981 to 1983 and Assistant Manager at MGM Grand Hotel from 1973 to 1981.
Mr. Pelzer received an Executive ABS and Hotel Administration degree from Miami-Dade Community College and a degree in Hotel Administration from the University of Nevada.
