Capital appreciation includes assets invested to generate higher returns in exchange for greater volatility. Investments in this category include public equity (directional and hedged), private equity and opportunistic investment ideas (short-term or long-term situations or dislocations that have profit-making potential). SVCF's investment committee recommends policy and provides direction for the investment of the financial assets of SVCF. Cambridge Associates has been retained by SVCF to advise on policy, asset allocation and manager selection. The committee carefully considers capital market risk and return estimates to ensure the policy allocation is appropriate for the investment objective of each pool. The investment committee reviews the policy annually. Given their long-term view, the policy is revised infrequently and in modest ways.
