Valerio is a Managing Director & Portfolio Manager of Opportunistic Credit at Onex Credit Partners LLC.
As the Head of Opportunistic Credit at Onex, he leads the firm’s private credit efforts for borrowers with limited access to traditional capital as well as those seeking growth debt to accelerate their development.
Additionally, he oversees the firm’s public credit activities for companies that are facing stress or distress.
Mr. Valerio leads the Opportunistic Credit Investment Committee, is a member of the Structured Credit Investment Committee and serves on the Onex Credit ESG Committee.
He has over 20 years of industry experience in opportunistic credit, special situations and distressed debt.
Prior to joining Onex Credit, Mr. Valerio was a Portfolio Manager and Managing Director at Oak Hill Advisors (“OHA”), where he focused on the firm’s stressed and distressed investments across public and private markets.
Prior to joining OHA, he was a Portfolio Manager in the Distressed and Special Situations group at BlueMountain Capital Management.
In these roles, he participated in numerous corporate and municipal restructurings and served as a leading member of multiple restructuring steering committees.
Prior to BlueMountain, he spent 11 years at Deutsche Bank, most recently as the Head of Trading for the Distressed Products Group and previously as a senior desk research analyst.
He earned a B.S.B.A.
in Finance and Accounting (magna cum laude) from Georgetown University.
