Bruichladdich Distillery Co. was acquired by Remy Cointreau UK Ltd. from Jeroboams & Laytons on September 03, 2012 for $74.44 million. The British company produces four different spirits, including Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte, Octomore, and The Botanist gin, which is made using 22 foraged island botanicals. The distillery matures and bottles all their single malts on the island and is due to install on-site maltings in the near future. The CEOs are Douglas Taylor and Simon Coughlin. The company was founded in 1881 by Robert Harvey and is the largest private employer on the island.
