John B. Maher

John B.
Maher, Director has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Polaris Resources Ltd., a company actively engaged in oil and natural gas exploration in northeastern British Columbia since 1977.
From 1992 to 1995 Mr. Maher was industrial advisor to the Federal Ministers of Energy and Mines of Canada where he was the Alberta representative reporting on the activity of the Geological Survey of Canada.
Prior thereto, Mr. Maher was a founder and President of Polaris Petroleum Ltd.
and Polaris Offshore Ltd.
During his tenure, these companies discovered a number of hydrocarbon pools in Western Canada and participated in a discovery offshore in eastern Canada.
From 1976-1979, Mr. Maher served as Chief Geologist of Sceptre Oils Ltd., a private oil and gas company that conducted exploration activities in various locations around the world.
Mr. Maher also held various exploration positions with Amoco Petroleum from 1971 to 1976, where his work led directly to several large natural gas discoveries.
Mr. Maher holds an Honours Bachelors degree in Geology and Mathematics and a Masters degree in Geology from Memorial University.
Mr. Maher is a member of the Canadian Well Logging Society, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta.
Mr. Maher was President of the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists in 1984.
