The Michigan Petroleum Association (MPA) is a trade organization established in 1934 that represents independent petroleum marketers and related businesses. The non-profit company is based in Lansing, MI. It promotes cooperation among members, provides legislative advocacy, informational resources, seminars, group insurance, and government relations support. MPA/MACS serve over 400 member companies with more than 1,500 retail locations and offer various membership categories, publications, legislative updates, and an annual marketing directory. The association hosts industry events such as the petroleum show and the end of summer conference, and administers the MIPEF scholarship program for employees and affiliates of member companies. The Michigan Petroleum Association Political Action Committee (MPAPAC) advocates for members by supporting state legislative candidates aligned with industry interests. MPA/MACS also maintain an online platform for member services and resources. In 1986, MPA founded the Michigan Association of Convenience Stores (MACS) to represent convenience stores and related sectors, expanding membership to include truckstops, service stations, propane providers, oil change retailers, and equipment suppliers.
