Ram Barkai

Mr. Ram Barkai is Chief Executive Officer at Cadiz Asset Management (Pty) Ltd and Executive Director at Cadiz Holdings Ltd.
He started his carerr in 1986 as a computer programmer in Haifa, Israel.
In 1987, he left for Tokyo Japan to join Sigma Systems software development, then joined I.Brains Inc. in Tokyo as a R&D software developer.
In 1992, he became Front Office Systems Manager at Fleming Securities Inc. Soon after, he moved to the global derivatives desk as an arbitrage and hedge proprietary trader.
In 1994 he was sent to Hong Kong, to setup a regional hedge fund for Jardine Fleming.
He returned to South Africa in 1996 and joined Cadiz to start the structured solutions division from which Cadiz Specialized Asset Management evolved.
He managed the Asset Management division until 2004.
He was promoted to chief executive officer in August 2005 and appointed as an executive director of Cadiz Holdings.
Mr Ram Barkai holds a degree in Computer Science from the Institute of Science, Israel.
