Mr. Moe, president of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, serves on the Ford Foundation Board of Trustees.
He is chair of the board's Management and Governance Committee and a member of four other committees: Knowledge, Creativity and Freedom; Executive; Membership; and Proxy.
Mr. Moe became the leader of the National Trust in 1993 after 12 years of practicing law with Davis Polk & Wardwell and nearly 20 years of public service.
His government jobs included being chief of staff to Vice President Walter Mondale and holding administrative positions in city and state government in Minnesota.
In the early 1970s, he was chairman of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party.
Mr. Moe is chairman of the Historic St. Mary's City Commission, a member of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation and a director of 1000 Friends of Minnesota, Save Ellis Island and Smart Growth America.
He is also a trustee of the National Building Museum.
In 2003 he was named an honorary member of the American Institute of Architects.
He is the author of "The Last Full Measure: The Life and Death of the First Minnesota Volunteers," a Civil War history, and co-author of "Changing Places: Rebuilding Community in the Age of Sprawl." A native of Duluth, Minn., Mr. Moe received his bachelor's degree from Williams College and earned his law degree from the University of Minnesota.
