For the past years of Mr. Flannery's tenure at SSgA, he served as the Director of Product Engineering, with responsibilities encompassing all asset classes and institutional strategies.
Prior to that he was a portfolio manager on our Global Fixed Income and Asset Allocation teams.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Flannery was a Senior Portfolio Manager with Scudder, Stevens and Clark.
Before that he managed indexed and quantitatively-driven fixed income strategies at PanAgora Asset Management.
Mr. Flannery received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from George Washington University.
He is a frequent contributor to financial publications, lecturer and speaker at industry conferences and created the State Street VGap, pioneering a new measure of stock market volatility.
Mr. Flannery is active in charities assisting underprivileged children and youth, serving on the Advisory Board of Trustees for Catholic Charities of Greater Boston and the New England Regional Board of Directors for the US Fund for UNICEF.
