Mr. James M.
Weiss, CFA MBA, is Senior Portfolio Manager at Segall Bryant & Hamill LLC.
He has been active in non-profit organizations and currently serves on Marquette University’s Board of Trustees.
Mr. Weiss joined Stein Roe & Farnham in Chicago in 1972, where he ultimately became a partner.
His work included the creation of investment strategies for individual investors, trusts, estates, foundations, corporations and institutional portfolios.
In 1992, he joined IDS Advisory Group as President of the firm’s unit, managing the equity portion of institutional investment portfolios.
In late 1995, Mr. Weiss became Chief Investment Officer, Equities, at State Street Research & Management in Boston.
In this role, he supervised a team of investors, research analysts and support staff managing portfolios for U.S.
and foreign institutional investors with assets of $16 billion.
In the fall of 2002, he founded Weiss Capital Management to provide investment management services to individual investors, trusts, estates, personal retirement plans and foundations.
In July 2015, Weiss Capital Management joined forces with Segall Bryant & Hamill.
He received his MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
He has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Investment Counselor designations.
