Previously, she was Chairman of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, the Senate Judiciary Committee, the Assembly Judiciary Committee, the California Legislative Women's Caucus, the Senate Committee on Energy, Utilities and Communications and the 27-member-strong California Latino Legislative Caucus.
In addition to that Ms. Escutia was a Member of the California State Assembly and the California State Senate.
She received a JD from Georgetown University in 1982 and a BS degree in Public Policy and Public Administration from the University of Southern California in 1979.
