Skaggs, CFA, is a Vice President & Senior Equity Strategist at Loomis, Sayles & Co. LP.
He joined the firm in 1994 as an Equity Research Analyst covering financial stocks, and subsequently became portfolio manager for the large cap growth team in 1998.
As a member of the macro strategies group, he works closely with the firm’s investment teams to provide a proprietary framework based on global macro issues and his assessment of the overall capital markets.
Utilizing a variety of analytical approaches, he provides viewpoints on stock market fundamentals, valuation, investor sentiment and other topical issues affecting the behavior of equity markets.
He publishes a bimonthly and quarterly equity market review, which delves into the current stock market environment and dissects the market sector by sector.
He has over 34 years of investment industry experience.
Mr. Skaggs began his career in 1978 at Comerica Bank, initially as a Commercial Credit Analyst.
From 1980 until 1984 he led the commercial loan training program, providing instruction in financial statement analysis, collateral analysis and commercial loan structure.
He then served as a Commercial Loan Officer from 1984 to 1986, until moving over to Comerica’s Trust Department in the fall of 1986.
As an Equity Research Analyst he covered several sectors, initially focused on industrial and technology stocks.
He moved to banking, financial services and insurance company equity coverage in 1987.
From 1983 to 1986, he was an Adjunct Professor of finance at Walsh College in Troy, MI, where he taught financial statement analysis.
Mr. Skaggs received his BS degree and an MS degree in Management from Oakland University.
