The firm uses traditional investment tools, including sector allocation, fundamental research and stringent buy/sell disciplines, to attempt to achieve benchmark-beating performance with below-market risk scores. Alexander invests primarily in the stocks of US large-cap companies in the electronic technology, retail and health technology sectors. The firm maintains a low turnover rate. Alexander's stock selection process employs a combination of top-down macroeconomic research and bottom-up fundamental security analysis. The investment team is responsible for making the final buy and sell decisions. The firm's sell discipline is based on setting price targets on both the upside and downside. If a stock declines outside of an industry move, the firm will either buy it back to its original weighting or sell. If a stock reaches its upside target, the firm will either increase the target if earnings have increased or set a trailing target below in order to participate in momentum moves. If the stock violates the trailing target, they will sell. If a stock goes over a certain percentage of the portfolio, Alexander will trim the position and re-deploy the proceeds to new issues.
