James Coates

Dr. Coates leads the Health & Human Services portfolio at Decisive Point.
Previously, Dr. Coates was at Bain Capital Life Sciences and a fellow at Harvard Medical School.
He’s worked with small & medium-sized biotech companies on a wide range of clinical challenges, including trial design and execution.
Dr. Coates graduated from McGill University in Chemical & Biomedical Engineering, received an MSc in Nuclear Medicine & Medical Oncology (with honors) from the University of Oxford, and then a PhD in Drug Discovery also from Oxford.
Dr. Coates has published over two dozen peer-reviewed manuscripts and three book chapters that span machine learning, telemetry, and drug discovery.
