John Howard

John L.
Howard is currently the Vice Chairman at the Chicago Horticultural Society.
He also holds director positions at Acklands - Grainger, Inc., Gilda's Club, Rush University Medical Center, Grainger Global Online Business Ltd., Grainger Foundation, Inc., 1871 Chicago, and the Council on Foreign Relations, Inc. In the past, Mr. Howard served as the Vice President-Law & Assistant General Counsel at Tenneco, Inc. He also worked as an Associate Deputy Attorney at the US Department of Justice and as the Vice President & General Counsel at Tenneco Automotive, Inc. (Nevada).
Additionally, he held the position of Senior Vice President & General Counsel at W.W.
Grainger, Inc. from 2000 to 2023.
Mr. Howard completed his graduate degree at George Washington University in 1989.
He also earned a graduate degree from Indiana University in 1982 and an undergraduate degree from the Kelley School of Business in 1979.
