GWI AM is an active, long-term, value-oriented manager which invests in large-cap listed Brazilian companies in the power, metals and mining, infrastructure, banks and retail sectors. They also invest in companies in opportunistic sectors that stand out for dividend policy, corporate governance and significant upside potential. The firm conducts proprietary fundamental research and analysis, including regular company visits, employing a bottom-up approach to search for large cap companies with valuations significantly below their true worth. GWI AM seeks to invest in companies with high barriers to entry, sustainable competitive advantages and strong fundamentals which are trading at low multiples. They typically take relevant minority stakes and seek to be appointed to their investee companies' Audit commitee and Board of Directors. The firm utilizes quantitative tools including mathematical, statistical and engineering computing systems such as BARRA and SPC to perform risk management.
