David Hines

Mr. Hines joined Avalon in 1997 and assumed his current position in late 1998.
He began intensive fundamental analysis of public and private companies in 1981.
Prior to joining Avalon, he was the President of Hines Management, which was formed in 1991 to specialize in managing hedge funds.
From 1984 to 1991, he managed stock and bond portfolios at Smith-Hines Investment Management.
Prior to his tenure at Smith-Hines Investment Management, Mr. Hines was a partner in a marketing research and consulting firm and authored an early statistical software package for personal computers.
He has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and an MBA. Mr. Hines heads the research effort and oversees the development and implementation of investment themes and strategies.
