The Group is an open-ended trust established under the laws of the province of Ontario to invest indirectly in energy and energy infrastructure projects. The Group invests in District Energy Systems. District energy system converts fuel, such as natural gas, biomass, fuel oil or coal, into steam, hot water and/or chilled water which is distributed to its customers to provide heating, air conditioning and some industrial process uses. The Group's customers government offices, hospitals, educational institutions and apartment buildings, as well as commercial businesses. On 01-Jan-2007, the Fund undertook an amalgamation of Countryside Canada Acquisition Inc, Countryside District Energy Holdings Corp and Countryside District Energy. The succeeding corporation is Countryside District Energy.

Capstone Infrastructure Corp. operates and develops thermal and renewable power generation facilities. It facilities produce electricity from natural gas, wind, biomass, hydro and solar resources. The company was founded on May 20, 2010 and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.
