John Oxtoby

Mr. John T.
Oxtoby is a Senior Vice President & Director of ESG Investing at Ariel Investments LLC.
He is responsible for leading ESG research and portfolio company engagement for Ariel’s domestic equity team and sits on the investment committee.
Prior to joining Ariel, he served in the Obama-Biden White House as associate director of the President’s Jobs Council, a CEO-led advisory council focused on growing the clean energy economy and expanding workforce training.
He also worked as a special assistant in the White House Office of Public Engagement and as an aide to the chairman of the council of economic advisers.
Beyond Ariel, Mr. Oxtoby serves on the board of directors of Hyde Park Art Center and Lincoln Park Zoo, as well as the investment committee of Leadership Greater Chicago.
He graduated with a BA in economics from Harvard College and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School.
