John Stephen Perkins

Mr. John S.
Perkins is a Managing Member at Toronado Partners LLC.
He founded the firm in March 2016.
Mr. Perkins has focused on smaller capitalization public equity investments throughout most of his over 20-year career as a growth equity investor.
He started his career in 1996 as an equity research associate at Robertson Stephens.
He transitioned in 1998 to evaluating venture capital opportunities at the Robertson Stephen’s venture group (called Crosslink Capital since 1999).
From 2001 through 2005, he worked as an analyst at Citadel Investments and then Proteus Capital.
He rejoined Crosslink as a Vice President in 2005 to focus on public growth equities.
Over the next decade, he led early investments in leadership companies across many technology sectors and was also an important contributor to Crosslink’s short portfolio.
His contributions were recognized by advancement to Partner in 2006, General Partner in 2009 and equity owner in 2010.
In 2013, Mr. Perkins identified the opportunity to generate significant returns with a fund leveraging his expertise in small capitalization growth technology companies.
He holds a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley and also attended the London School of Economics.
He is a CFA Charterholder and served as president of CFA Society San Francisco.
