Friends of The Rail Park is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming three miles of historic, unused railway lines into a continuous public greenway called the Rail Park. Friends of The Rail Park collaborates with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and other partners to steward the park and provide public programs. The non-profit company is based in Philadelphia, PA. The park spans ten neighborhoods and is divided into three sections—the viaduct, the cut, and the tunnel—aiming to create an inclusive urban space that enhances community health, culture, ecology, and economic opportunities. The organization offers guided historic walking tours and free self-guided audio tours in multiple languages to engage the community with the park’s industrial heritage and future vision.
