The firm’s Independent Advisory Representatives (IARs) work with clients to determine an appropriate asset allocation based on the client's risk tolerance, investment objectives, and investment attribute preferences. Their investment process begins with a global macroeconomic view, which drives their broader asset allocation decisions. The United Capital Investment Committee is responsible for overall supervision of client assets under United Capital’s management, including determining which Portfolio Managers to use.

Sovereign Wealth Management's (SWM) philosophy involves the use of Modern Portfolio Theory. The firm allocates assets among traditional asset classes in addition to alternative investments. They require a long and verifiable stream of returns different enough to add meaningful diversification to a portfolio. SWM employs the use of five asset classes: domestic and foreign equities; domestic and foreign fixed-income; and hedge funds. Capitalization and valuation metrics further classify their equity asset allocation. Asset class returns that exhibit significant pricing inefficiencies are captured through active management, while others are accessed through low cost, passive index funds
