John M. Begg

Mr. John M.
Begg is Senior Advisor at HarbourVest Partners LLC.
He joined the firm in 1993 with a focus on secondary investments and was a Managing Director through 2010.
Commencing January 2011, he reduced his time commitment to HarbourVest and is a Senior Advisor.
He continues to provide input on secondary deals, special projects, and other HarbourVest matters.
He formerly served on the advisory boards of several U.S.
and European private equity partnerships, including funds managed by Advent International, Alpha Private Equity, France Private Equity, and Galiléo Partners.
Mr. Begg's previous experience includes seven years within the Advent International Network, where he structured and managed private equity investments in Europe and the U.S.
He then joined Robert Bosch GmbH in Germany, where he spent several years in manufacturing engineering, quality assurance, and technology transfer.
He later worked in industrial marketing for the aerospace division of Raychem Corporation in California.
He lived in France for 15 years before attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mr. Begg received a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1978 and received his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1985.
