Bergey's Manual Trust is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preparation, editing, and publication of Bergey's Manual, an international reference work for bacterial taxonomy and systematics. The non-profit company is based in GA. The trust owns the rights to the manual and uses its income to support ongoing revisions, supplementary publications, and taxonomic research. Its publications include multiple editions of Bergey's Manual, such as determinative bacteriology editions focused on phenotypic bacterial identification, comprehensive systematic bacteriology editions, and the digital Bergey's Manual of Systematics of Archaea and Bacteria. The trust's board and associate members are microbiologists and taxonomists who contribute expertise in microbial ecology, genomics, and taxonomy. It supports the Bergey's International Society for Microbial Systematics, fosters research collaboration, and honors contributions to bacterial taxonomy through awards.
